Fire/Rescue Apparatus
The North Shore Fire/Rescue is an all hazards response agency. In order to respond to this wide variety of incidents, the Department must maintain a fleet of apparatus with a range of capabilities.
Fire/Rescue
The Department has four front-line engines, two front-line trucks, and two tenders (water carrying tankers). Fire/Rescue apparatus is equipped to respond to fire incidents, rescue calls and emergency medical calls.
EMS
The Department staffs two levels of ambulances in accordance with State of Wisconsin Statutes. The Department operates four ambulances. Three advanced life support ambulances are staffed with paramedics and the other ambulance is staffed with basic life support crews.
Special Operations
The Department deploys a Special Operations unit for rescues involving confined spaces and trenches as well as hazardous materials incidents. The Department also has a boat for water or ice rescue.
Command
A Battalion Chief serves as the Operations Shift Commander twenty-four hours a day. The Battalion Chief acts as the Incident Commander at major incidents and operates from a sport utility type vehicle. He/she can also request the Department’s Command Post to the scene for long-term incidents if required.
