FULL TIME FIREFIGHTER

The North Shore Fire Commission, the City of Wauwatosa Police and Fire Commission and the City of West Allis Police and Fire Commission are accepting applications to fill current and future vacancies on the entry level Firefighter/EMT staff of the North Shore Fire Department, Wauwatosa Fire Department, and West Allis Fire Department.  This is a joint hiring process; however, each Fire Department will be creating a separate hiring eligibility list.  Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, valid Driver’s License, 18 years of age by due date of application, Wisconsin EMT license and Wisconsin Firefighter I certification or equivalent.  Preferred:  Nationally Registered Paramedic Technician License.  Preference Points: Preference points will be given to candidates who have obtained additional general and fire education and/or emergency medical licenses and certifications.  Application Process:  Interested candidates should apply on-line at the City of Wauwatosa’s website: www.wauwatosa.net.  Please click HERE for the further details and the application process.  The deadline to apply and submit required documents is 4:30 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2019.

Please Note: Qualified candidates must successfully pass oral interviews, background and psychological investigations, medical examination and drug screen and possess a valid Driver’s License. Candidates must provide a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certificate, dated not greater than one year from the deadline, to the Department prior to the offer of employment.  

The North Shore Fire Department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the communities of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Glendale, River Hills, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay.  The Wauwatosa Fire Department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the community of Wauwatosa.  The West Allis Fire Department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the community of West Allis.

INTERN FIREFIGHTER

North Shore Fire/Rescue is accepting applications for the position of Intern Firefighter. This is an unpaid position. Intern Firefighters are expected to attend mandatory training and events as scheduled by the Department.  Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include:  High School Diploma, 18 years of age by due date of application, a valid Drivers License or ability to obtain one at time of appointment. Individual mentoring provided for guidance through Firefighter I certification, EMT-Basic and Paramedic Licensure.  Application Process:  Download an application packet HERE.  Completed applications must be returned to the North Shore Fire Department, 4401 W. We are currently not running an application process, however if you submit an application,  your information will be kept on file for the next application period.  The Department plans to tentatively evaluate applications on a quarterly basis.
